Wishing YOU... Happy Valentine's Day, and Happy Chinese New Year (Year of the Tiger) on February 14; and Happy Presidents' Day on February 15!
While reminiscing about my past two years and some events that have brought me to this point in my life, I rediscovered this post of my creating GadgetGypsy.com (my Blog); and my inspiration to do so...
Mostly migrated from GadgetGypsy.Xanga.com, with some. No.
MUCH revision (I am
liking this CSS Web Design and the flexibility that I get on my own site)!...
In September 2008, I an encounter with a 'wild hair'; and decided to learn some Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) Web Design. Now, if you know me, you KNOW that I
HATE programming! I can usually puzzle it out, and manage a decent program; although, it takes me a looooooong time all the while hating the process. However, since I started my first Blog on Xanga.com, and watched what was possible from viewing AND reading the posts at
DarkerView.com, I have taken new interest in Web Design through CSS!
However, I WILL NOT ever bend to referring to CSS as 'programming' any more than I will give in to the construct that Pluto is no longer classified as a planet (<-- In my 'book', this should read: "Pluto
IS, was, and always shall be no longer classified as a planet!!!!") Otherwise, many of my exams in school become null and void; and should not have been used in calculating my grades!
I believe CSS to be scripting because it is not as abstract and looping confusing as the programming in 'C' language that I had to learn and use while taking classes for my Management Information Systems/Operations Management (MIS/OM) Bachelors of Science (BS) degree at the University of Arizona with all those 'for' and 'if then' statements... I was often ending up in a nasty loopy mess that made my head spin!?!?!?
Having reached my limits in possibilities at Xanga.com, I asked Andy, my husband and best friend, to teach me the basics of setting up and configuring my own blog with my own domain. Now, I have more extensive room for creativity; and more tools for creative layout. Thus, my new Blog of my own domain was 'born' and is still 'living' and 'growing' at
www.GadgetGypsy.com!
I can also more easily share photos and video clips here, and I am trying to be more consistent at adding posts. Although I will probably never keep up with Andy's prolific number of postings while not missing a day in about three years now at DarkerView.com, I do attempt to make somewhat regular postings of interest so that my readers do not give up on me!
Andy is an excellent tutor; but please don't tell him that I said so. I continue to request help when I get stumped trying something new, and he is able to explain it in a 'language' (no 'for' and 'if then' statements) that I can understand.
You are invited to drop on by often and check
www.GadgetGypsy.com out! Although, I am and will be learning the intricacies of CSS for quite a while as GadgetGypsy.com continues to grow. Please don't let the changes here scare you away or keep you from providing me constructive and valuable feedback in comments.
GadgetGypsy.Xanga.com is still active; however, I put my Picts, Vid Clips, and main posts here on GadgetGypsy.com with the occasional post to Xanga letting visitors know to check out my new Blog posts here. I like the community at Xanga, too; but I no longer visit it as often since I have joined Facebook. A great place to connect and hopes that it does not implement a fee based membership, since it is my belief that the ever increasing fees at Xanga are a major part of what has killed Xanga for me. Facebook is a relatively easy to navigate site with an interface that readily lends itself to chat and comment; but doesn't take over your page with Ads!
My original subscription for GadgetGypsy.com was set for a year to try it to see if I would continue with it or lose interest. Andy renewed it for me in September 2009 when my subscription was getting ready to expire; and he saw that I am still posting to it.
I hope to see your 'footprints' over at
www.GadgetGypsy.com! I enjoy receiving legitimate comments from my visitors
